Wounds Into Wisdom

Breaking the Cycle of Intergenerational Trauma

Join us as we show you how to integrate Intergenerational Trauma healing to therapy sessions. Broaden your healing perspective, expand your clinical skills––and learn how to address deeply-rooted patterns of inherited trauma with wisdom, compassion, and cultural sensitivity.

Includes live calls, small group practicums, PLUS a bonus demo session!

How can an understanding of our intergenerational trauma history help us become better therapists?

Every day we work with clients who face mental health issues, such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse, shame, or relationship difficulties.

And many of these clients also have a family history of similar challenges. Even so, we often treat their trauma as if it’s confined to their individual experiences.

But what if the key to healing is understanding trauma as part of an extended ancestral legacy?

By focusing solely on a client’s personal history, we may overlook the broader context of their family and cultural background, where specific circumstances and experiences often hold the key to understanding trauma’s origins and unlocking deeper healing.

While our clients may be unaware of how their family history shaped their current patterns and issues, as therapists, we can help them to uncover these connections.

But to support our clients effectively, we must first examine how inherited trauma has shaped our own lives—building self-awareness and resilience that equips us to help our clients make sense of their past and who they are today.

When we model the process of healing, we empower our clients to break free from painful cycles and transform their wounds into sources of strength and wisdom.

To truly hold space for our clients, we must first do our own inner work. When we take the time to explore our own family histories and inherited trauma with curiosity and compassion, something powerful happens:

The good news is, any practitioner can learn these deeply transformative skills.

In this program, you’ll master a unique therapeutic approach, equipped with powerful and practical tools to guide clients as they explore ancestral trauma and move towards a more joyful and fulfilling life.

“Trauma changes us in permanent ways. But we have a choice about the outcome of our story. We can bemoan our fate as victims… or we can recognize our pain and follow the circumstances of our lives into unforeseen directions and new meanings.

We can ask: What does this terrible wound inspire me to do that I would never have thought to do otherwise?”

Here’s What We’ll Cover In The Next 6 Months

Includes LIVE teaching, experiential exercises, ancestral witnessing, guided practices and meditations, and Genogram mapping—PLUS four “Small Group Practicums with Tirzah” sessions—so you can feel more capable, confident, and effective in treating even your most challenging clients.

All LIVE monthly sessions meet online via Zoom for 2 hours (dates listed below)

MONTH 1: Wednesday, May 1, 2024 @ 11 am-1 pm MT

Foundations: Depth Psychology and the Journey to Wholeness

We begin our exploration of intergenerational trauma healing by examining ourselves, our families, and our ancestral roots. This month’s training introduces you to key concepts of intergenerational healing and the layered model of the psyche as explained in Depth Psychology.

We’ll also explore the concept of entelechy—a principle that suggests that each individual possesses an inner “wholeness,” much like a seed holds a blueprint for a tree. Throughout our discussion, we’ll focus on how trauma (both personal and collective) can disrupt our connection to this inner potential.

Using this framework, we can begin to understand trauma in different contexts and learn to recognize its origins as a way to help our clients restore and reconnect to their innate sense of self.

Small Group Practicum #1 with Tirzah

MONTH 2: Tuesday, June 18, 2024 @ 11 am-1 pm MT

The Unconscious as a Potent Realm of Healing

The metaphor of the iceberg is often used to describe the conscious and unconscious mind, with the bulk of our mental and emotional processing taking place below the level of our awareness.

During this month’s session, we’ll start above the surface, as we continue to refine our definitions of trauma and learn to recognize the tell-tale signs of individual, intergenerational, and collective wounding.

Then, we’ll address the depths of the unconscious mind, where we’ll begin to explore the connections we all share with our ancestors. Using the work of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and James Henderson, and the powerful healing space of the “Imaginal Realm,” you’ll discover new possibilities for healing and connection.

MONTH 3: Tuesday, July 16, 2024 @ 11 am-1 pm MT

Trauma and the Phenomenon of Intergenerational Transmission

In recent years, the term ‘trauma’ has become increasingly popular, raising awareness and giving a voice to those affected. However, overuse of the term can cause many of us to confuse and dilute its meaning.

In this month’s training, we’ll explore the field of epigenetic science in the context of trauma, which studies how external influences and environmental factors can modify gene expression––including how these changes can be inherited across generations, affecting thought patterns, behaviors, and emotions.

Finally, you’ll also have an opportunity to examine your own ancestral history to consider how your family’s past experiences and traumas may have shaped your own beliefs, behaviors, and emotional responses… providing insights for personal growth and healing.

Small Group Practicum #2 with Tirzah

MONTH 4: Tuesday, August 20, 2024 @ 11 am-1 pm MT

Ancestral Legacies as a Practitioner’s Tool: The Wide-Angle Lens of Historical Context

When we understand the context of our ancestors’ experiences, including their racial, socio-political, and economic struggles, we can develop compassion for the traumas they may have endured––an empathy that opens us up to appreciate their resilience and learn from the strategies they used to cope.

This month, you’ll go deeper into your own ancestral history as you build (and review) a Genogram, or multigenerational family tree. This activity opens up new perspectives and paths for personal healing––while reinforcing new skills to help clients with their own mapping and inquiry into their inherited wounds.

Small Group Practicum #3 with Tirzah

MONTH 5: Tuesday, September 17, 2024 @ 11 am-1 pm MT

Professional Skills to Incorporate Intergenerational Healing Into Our Practices

Just as with any trauma work, exploring family histories and ancestral wounding can activate nervous system dysregulation in both the client and therapist. Discussing painful family experiences and uncovering intergenerational patterns of trauma can bring up intense emotions or bodily sensations.

For this reason, it’s essential for therapists to develop (and practice) a deeper awareness of their reactions during sessions, including techniques for grounding and centering while simultaneously monitoring and adjusting to our clients’ nervous system responses.

In this month’s training, you’ll learn skills and techniques to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment that promotes co-regulation and healing while safeguarding your own well-being and preventing vicarious trauma.

Demo & Debrief Workshop with Diane

Small Group Practicum #4 with Tirzah

MONTH 6: Tuesday, October 22, 2024 @ 11 am-1 pm MT

Incorporating Ritual, Dreamwork, and Active Imagination in a Clinical Setting

In our last session, we revisit the Depth Psychology approach to healing––this time focusing on repairing our connection to our hidden inner wisdom to guide our therapeutic work. We’ll revisit the core principles of ancestral healing and explore how they can inspire personal growth and healing across generations.

As we continue to practice techniques, including guided meditations and imaginative rituals, you’ll have an opportunity to reflect on the unique strengths and gifts you have developed as a facilitator and guide in intergenerational trauma healing.

This final module will not only reinforce your new skills, but also provide you with ongoing tools and techniques that you can integrate into your practice, supporting deeper healing for complex cases.

Join our global learning community––and learn how to apply new skills, strategies, and exercises to your personal and professional life.

Meet Your Instructors

Our task is to excavate the old traumas, the unhealed wounds, and bring them into the light of consciousness where they can be met with compassion, understanding, and finally, integration.

This is the path to inner wholeness and freedom.

Rabbi Dr. Tirzah Firestone, PhD is a distinguished author, Jungian psychotherapist, and renowned religious scholar and teacher. Her approach to therapy is deeply rooted in the integration of depth psychology with spiritual and ancestral wisdom practices to address and heal intergenerational trauma.

Rabbi Tirzah lectures and teaches internationally on a variety of topics, including collective trauma, feminine wisdom tradition, and Jewish mysticism.

In all of these topics, her emphasis is on honing ancient wisdom practices to assist us at this critical time in world history.

Rabbi Dr. Firestone is also the author of the award-winning book, Wounds into Wisdom: Healing Intergenerational Jewish Trauma, which explores the transformation of inherited traumas into wisdom, courage, and compassion.

This groundbreaking work employs interviews, case studies, and her own autobiographical narratives to demonstrate how trauma residue passes from generation to generation—and how individuals and families can navigate and heal from the complex legacies of their past.

For more information, you can visit her website: Tirzah Firestone.

Therapists play a crucial role in guiding individuals through their unique challenges, including the deep-seated effects of intergenerational trauma.

By understanding the origins and hidden consequences of these ancestral wounds, we can support our clients as they work to leave the pain of the past behind and embrace a legacy of healing.

Diane Poole Heller PhD, is an internationally recognized speaker, author, and teaching expert in the field of adult attachment theory and trauma resolution.

Her signature approach—DARe (Dynamic Attachment Re-patterning experience)—provides therapists and individuals with relevant skills and practical exercises that facilitate healing from attachment and trauma wounds.

Her work with adult attachment has forged a path for adults with childhood attachment injuries to develop Secure Attachment Skills (SAS) that lead to more connected and fulfilling adult relationships. Through various training programs, books, lectures and her own work as a clinical therapist, Dr. Heller has helped a countless number of people in their healing journey towards experiencing greater intimacy, wholeness and more fulfilling relationships.

She believes that when we heal ourselves first, we heal our families, our communities and the world as a whole.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can we help you?

No you do not. While most of the people who join the Therapy Mastermind Circle membership are both novices and experienced practitioners, we do sometimes have non-therapists join us as we explore a variety of in-depth topics on a monthly basis.

Since this particular cohort includes small group practice breakout sessions and experiential teaching, we do encourage any non-therapists who choose to join us to have therapeutic support in place, as the material covered during our time together is not meant as a substitute for therapy. If you are currently working with a mental health professional, we encourage you to invite them to join this program as well.

This topic is highly relevant for psychologists, therapists, and other mental health and behavioral professionals such as life coaches, bodywork practitioners, counselors, who work with clients and patients in a professional or clinical setting—and who work with the nuances and complexities of intergenerational trauma.

Each monthly live session will be streamed live via Zoom online on Tuesdays. Additionally, you’ll be able to submit questions each week through the private course portal and during the live session, which includes time for Q&A.

Every call will be recorded and stored inside the private course portal, so you may review it at your own pace. However, we highly recommend you attend live so you don’t miss live teaching.

Therapy Mastermind Circle is an annual program with rotating 6-month topics. You have lifetime access to the learning portal and materials for every 6-month topic you complete, including videos, transcripts, worksheets, exercises and bonuses. You may also download or print the materials at any time to your professional reference library. In the interest of privacy, demo videos may never be downloaded.

If you cancel your membership to Therapy Mastermind Circle before completing the current 6-month topic, you will have 30 days—from the time you give notice of your cancellation—to download the materials for your personal use. The current membership rate is $77/month, which will be applied as long as you continue your membership. If you cancel your membership at any time and rejoin the program at a later date or topic—monthly rates may be subject to change.

We would love to have you join each session live, but if you are unable to do so, that’s ok—all sessions and training calls (including the Q&A) are recorded and stored in your professional reference library, so you can still receive the information and coaching you need.

Additionally, the program materials (including audio recording, video recordings and transcript from each session) are yours to download and keep in your professional reference library. This will be useful for some sessions that you will want to listen to or watch more than once.

Plus, you can always submit a question via Kajabi (the learning portal) outside of the live sessions. It’s a great place to ask questions, share insights and get support from Dr. Firestone or Dr. Heller and your colleagues at any time.

The LIVE, ONLINE sessions for this course have been approved for a total of 12 CE credit hours. If you are a licensed clinical professional counselor or a licensed social worker—you may purchase these CE credits for an additional fee of $89 via our website.

CE credits must be purchased by the beginning of the last live session—October 22, 2024. Attendance will be taken to verify eligibility.

Upon completion of the program, you will be sent an activity evaluation link, which must be completed within 60 days after the last program session (by Saturday, December 21, 2024). Upon completion of the activity evaluation, participants can print their certificate or statement of credit immediately.

Also, a Certificate of Completion is available to all students at the end of the course upon request at no additional charge.

Note: It is the participants responsibility to check their individual state boards to verify CE requirements for their state. For detailed information regarding CEs, please contact our Customer Support Team.

We do offer a limited number of partial scholarships for students who attend an accredited university. Reduced enrollment rates are also available for those with limited resources in countries defined as low and lower middle income by the World Bank. Please contact us for more information.
